Qualcomm’s programs empowering women in stem

We are very honored to be collaborating with VHTO as a continuation of our efforts around the world to encourage the young generation towards STEM education. Equal representation in the machine learning field brings with it better utilizing of talent as well as increased creativity and quality of team problem-solving. Being mentored by a successful professional that you resonate with and that you see yourself in helps build confidence. You think “If this person can make it in the field, then I can make it as well.”

Since last year Qualcomm has launched a program called Qwomen which now has 9 chapters across 3 continents: US, Europe and Asia. This community has over 200 Qualcomm female employees that are providing mentorship both to Qualcomm employees and to female students interested in the STEM field, organize monthly talks as well as Lean In circles: small peer groups that regularly meet to learn and grow together.

In addition to this, we are powering STEM education for primary school students through the program Thinkabit Lab. Through this initiative started in 2014, 13,300+ students explored STEM careers, 375+ classes have been hosted, 2,300+ teachers, parents, and administrators visited.
